About Us

Zielona Budka has been manufacturing ice cream of excellent quality for 70 years. During this time, the company has become widely known in Poland. We have come a long way – from a small Warsaw ice cream shop in the 1940s to a major manufacturer and exporter to the European market. This was possible thanks to the immense commitment of our employees to the development of exciting products that meet the expectations of ice cream aficionados. In April 2004, Zielona Budka was acquired by a Germany-based company Rocandin GmbH. Rocandin bought the shares of our company from the funds managed by Enterprise Investors. This means that a financial shareholder was replaced by a trade shareholder with an established third place in the ice cream market of Western Europe. Two years later, in 2006, Rocandin GmbH joined forces with a UK ice cream company Richmond Foods plc. We became part of a huge ice cream business R&R Ice Cream.

The merger allowed Zielona Budka to increase its production capacity and expand export reach. Sharing experience between the two companies, together with the great tradition of Zielona Budka, makes us even more effective in achieving our ambition of creating exquisite ice cream. The impressive growth of Zielona Budka is measured by the index of product availability on the market, number of novelties introduced every year in all ice cream segments, including innovative solutions in production technology and product creations. Our mission is to ensure continuous acclaim from connoisseurs and for the company to remain one of the most popular and renowned ice cream brands in Poland.

Quality Policy

Zielona Budka products have been popular and appreciated among consumers for over 70 years. Where is the secret? The unique taste of our ice cream is the result of our traditional recipe, developed meticulously over the years, and of the highest standards of quality.

Our products are manufactured in the production plant in Mielec, Poland, which is a state-of-the-art facility meeting the most demanding hygiene and safety requirements. The factory of Zielona Budka was one of the first in Poland to obtain the Integrated Management System compliant with ISO 9001 Quality Management and HACCP. In the following years, the Integrated Management System was extended by the requirements of other norms and catering standards.

The current Integrated Management System in Zielona Budka meets the requirements of the following standards:

PN-EN ISO 9001:2009 Quality Management Systems – a customer-oriented standard that enables high product quality, duly supervised processes and constant improvement.

PN-EN ISO 14001:2005 Environmental Management Systems – this standard specifies the requirements for minimising the negative impact of the enterprise on the environment (since 26 April 2005).

PN-EN ISO 22000:2006 Food Safety Management – the standard serves for evaluating the HACCP system. It allows to identify health hazards for a potential consumer, and then eliminate or limit them to a safe level, which means that the products are safe for the consumer’s health. The standard requires meeting the regulations of GMP/GHP codes (Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Hygiene Practice).

Meeting the requirements of the above standards is confirmed by a certificate issued by PCBC (Polskie Centrum Badań i Certyfikacji – Polish Centre of Research and Certification) for designing, manufacturing and marketing ice cream.

Zielona Budka also meets the requirements of extremely demanding food standards:

IFS – International Food Standards

BRC – Global Standard for Food
